On a lighter note

My last post was a little serious so I thought I should back it up with something more upbeat. Yesterday Becky invited us to a festival that was raising money for The Animal Mission. She thought it would be fun because we could bring Maggie.  As we entered I notice the brochure they were giving out...

I couldn't believe it, so ironic!!
(Remember the title of my last post: Love is a four letter word)

I wish we would have gotten there earlier because the rain cut it short but we had a good time. There were different bands that performed, food and even a pet sitting area. Earlier in the day there was a parade, everyone was dressed for Mardi Gras and threw candy and beads. Pat and I missed that part but we did get to enjoy watching all of the eclectic people and their crazy outfits.

Thanks Maggie your pose really makes the picture!

All of you dog lovers know that love is a 4 'legged' word. They fill our lives with so much joy. They love unconitionally and never hold a grudge. I highly recemmend it (a dog that is); it will change your life for the better!!

Love is a four letter word

...and sometimes it feels like one.

Since we haven't quite hit the two year mark, Pat and I are still figuring out this thing called marriage. While we have so many more good times than bad, I'm still struggling to figure out why the bad times have to be at all.

This morning I was relaxing on the couch, sipping coffee and enjoying my usual Saturday morning routine. Flipping the TV back and forth from Dogs 101 to VH1 Top 20 Countdown, I heard a song that it so appropriate for love and the way it makes you feel sometimes.

I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz. From his album Love is a Four Letter Word.

"I won't give up on us,
even when the skies get rough,
I'm giving you all my love..."

Every once and a while I think you have to experience the tough times so that you can appreciate how great things are the other 90% of the time. For any of you that haven't already 'figured it' out I hope this song helps you see things the way it did for me. Love can feel different at times, but it will always there!

Peace and Quiet

This weekend Pat and I went to Beaufort. It is so relaxing and every time we visit I am reminded why we chose to have our wedding there - it is so beautiful!

We didn't get down until the sun had set on Friday so we sat by the fire pit and ate dinner before I called it a night. I woke up early the next morning and walked Maggie to the point. When the tide is down she has lots of space to run.

The days were gorgeous and sunny... from inside. But outside the wind was crazy! I managed to bundle up enough to be able to bear eating lunch outside and enjoy the scenery on the waterfront.

No trip to downtown Beaufort would be complete without a stop at The Chocolate Tree!  Pat usually depletes their entire stock of chocolate covered almonds.

Sunday defiantly came too soon. It was hard to leave but now I'm home, refreshed and ready for a new week!

Harbison State Forest

Last weekend Pat and Maggie spent some time exploring Harbison State Forest. This weekend we all ventured out.

I had no idea how neat it is. We went on the "very difficult" trail. It's surprising how many hills and twist you have to go up and around considering you are in the middle of Irmo. I was pleasantly pleased.

If you look closely you can see the trail below.

This was the biggest pine tree I have ever seen!
Pat and I stood on opposite sides and our hands just reached around.

What I like most about "hiking" is reaching the destination. For us, it's usually a waterfall or an overlook. What I liked about this trail was that it passes the Broad River.

When we reached the patch of rocks in the picture above the water level was low enough to cross.

Pat decided it would be worth it to spluge and pay the annual fee of $25 so I'm sure there will be more posts to come!

BTW: Happy 29th Birthday Shelly! We love you!
