A Storm's a Brewin'

Yesterday Pat decided it was time to get his jet ski up and running. As usual, making the 45 minute ride to the lake to do anything on the water when the temperature isn't above 80 degrees is not very high on my priority list. But Pat's persistence always beats out any of my excuses, so off we went to get the jet ski. It has been in storage at the Stiers so we went by there first. After discovering the battery was dead, we headed towards the lake to get the charger. All the while Pat was telling me about the romantic sunset cruise we would be going on (on the pontoon, NOT the jet ski). I was looking at the dark clouds in the ski, doubting the ride would happen. And all of the sudden the rain started. And next, the hail started coming down. We could only see a few feet in front of the car. I was yelling, "Stop, turn around!" and he was yelling, "Be quiet!" And then it stopped, just as quickly as it had started. The temperature had gone from 78 degrees to 55! It was the weirdest thing I have experienced. The storm left a haze over everything as the sun started to come out again.

By the time we reached the house the sun was out and the sky was filled with the most beautiful rainbow!

The rainbow made the near death experience worth it! HeeHee!

After charging the battery, the jet ski ran great. Of course the change in the weather made it impossible for Pat to leave without at least one trip around the cove. The temperature had risen a bit but I still call him crazy for taking it out.

We left the house just as the sun was setting which made for a nice ride home. It is so beautiful out there, like being in a different world (especially compared to our house downtown).

I can't believe it's spring already! Oh summer, I can't wait for you to get here!!

Knee Deep in the Water Somewhere

Last night we went to see Zac Brown Band! It was a great concert. As soon as we got there I ran into a co-worker of mine, Michelle. It was so fun to see her!

She was the one that told me about the
concert and helped find our tickets!

I had never given much thought to the 'Band' part of ZBB but boy can they play! The instrument solos were amazing. Electric guitar,  trombone, sax, drums and some other woodwind instrument I didn't recognize (Dad? I know you know). Our favorite was the fiddle, especially when they played the Devil Went Down to Georgia!

This was our first concert expeience (alone) together, and now I'm on Pat's side  the-more-the-merrier, but we had a great time! Pat thinks we might become professional concert goers! Sounds great to me...I like anything when it's live!

Cheers to the Kenney's!

Today is Rob and Shelly's 1 year anniversay!

Somehow in the mix of things last year I ended up with the top of the cake. And as tempted as I am, I will not cut into it. I keep telling myself...do not eat that cake, do NOT eat that cake! But I thought they might want to remember what it looked like.

I added the flowers to make it look perty!
(and don't worry Shelly I put saran wrap on it first so you don't have to worry
about getting some strange disease from the pesticides on the flowers or anything!)

I hope you guys have a great anniversary dinner and just think...on your next anniversary you will be a family of three!!

I love you guys!

Camp Whale Branch

This weekend Pat was at the creek house hosting the annual "Dudes Weekend" so I decided to tag along...kinda. I spent the weekend just down the road at Aunt Susan's and Uncle Jack's--Camp Whale Branch.

Becky, Christie and I drove down Friday evening and picked up Kaylee along the way. Unfortunately, Uncle Jack was absent due to back issues but we enjoyed a nice girls weekend (minus Big Jon). Friday night was shagging and line dancing. A short rain storm that night helped wash away some of the pollen so we were able to enjoy a nice bike ride on Saturday. I might have been the youngest of the crew but I found it to be quite good exercise. All of the other women seemed to be unfazed but I definitely had sweat on my brow when we returned home!

After a little relaxing and some lunch we were back outside ready for a trip in the kayaks. It was a perfect day for it and so much fun!

Becky showing off her skills!

Me... so happy!

All the girls: Kaylee, Becky, Aunt Susan, and Nadia.

After dinner we played some games, looked at old pictures and before I knew it Saturday Night Live was on (which was my queue to hit the sack). After a page or 2 of Twilight I was out like a light. Thanks so much to Aunt Susan for hosting! We had a great time and I can't wait to go back!

A little Vitamin D

I awoke this Saturday morning refreshed and ready for a new and adventurous day! Pat, on the other hand, has been traveling a lot this week so he was not as "refreshed" as I was, but he had a great suggestion for a way to enjoy this wonderful day without exerting too much energy...Lake Murray!

As soon as the weather starts to turn to spring he's ready for the lake. Fortunately for us my parents are willing to loan us their boat whenever we get the itch. It started off a little windy but it turned out to be amazingly warm and beautiful in the sun.

It is the most relaxing thing to do! We didn't have the music on, we were actually enjoying the sound of the water and each others company...who'd a thought??!!

Not to mention how much Maggie LOVES a boat ride!!!

In keeping with our lake theme, Sunday we attended a wedding in Camden, SC. The ceremony was lovely and the back drop for the reception was perfect. A beautiful sunset over Lake Wateree.

Notin' better than a little sunshine and some fresh air!!
