I think any full time working mother should be grated a discount on maid services. I am frugal to the core so I'm not sure I can take the plunge but I really need to! I'm complaining and my schedule is only Monday-Thursday, I don't know how people do it 5 days a week! Aside from cleaning and errands, mainly I miss the extra time with Lily. A few weeks ago it dawned on me the amount of time I actually see her during the week. We spend 30 minutes together in the morning and about 2 1/2 hours in the evening. Only 3 hours a day?! That's not fair!
I have come to realize the last few months that the time away makes the time together so much better. If she's having an 'off' day, I don't mind the wining (as much;)). I like hearing her call my name numerous times in a row. I enjoy when she hangs on my leg or takes my hand to show me what she wants. If working 4 days a week makes me patient in areas I might otherwise not be then maybe this setup isn't all bad.
Lily started with "Mimi" in the middle of July and I knew this was a good move the minute I dropped her off. Lily isn't a shy child so I didn't expect any tears at drop off but pickup was another story. Whose kid cries when they arrive to pick them up?! I wanted her love it but I have to admit, it was hard those first couple days as I drug her away crying. But it's worth it! This women has taken the guilt out of going to work. Honestly, I no longer have the burning desire to stay home with her. I realize that she is happier there with her friends than she would be with me. She is getting the socialization she needs and so much more. They do lessons each day and all kinds of fun things like: the museum, the zoo, the trampoline park, Krispie Kreme for donuts (which always makes me jealous), the library and the list goes on!
In other Lily related news, we are on week 4 with our big girl panties! I can't believe it! Every time I pick her up and feel that little tush, I'm surprised. And the talking! I can't get over how quickly it has snowballed. The months of repeating 'please' and 'thank you' for everything is paying off. I still have to remind her to say 'thank you' sometimes but "Peeease" rolls right off of her tongue. My Dad pointed out that we shouldn't have taught her that because it is so hard to say no when she asks so nicely. She excuses herself and anyone else who needs it. We were shopping the other day when a women was trying to squeeze her cart by us and before I even noticed Lily looked at her and said, "Scuse me" There is no denying it now, she's officially a big girl!
